How To Align With Your Soul

Back in December 2018, everything felt "off." My life looked pretty great on paper - I had my own business, loving friends and family, and was recently engaged. And yet something was just not right. I didn't know what it was, but something was causing me to be sad and anxious, and I knew I needed to find the root cause. I decided to go all in and discover who I was and who I was meant to be. I did everything: I started with a natal chart reading (game changer!), then took courses, hired mentors, went to healers...I'm telling you, I did it ALL. What came out of it all was the revelation that I wasn't living for me, and I was very out of alignment with my soul's purpose. Once this was revealed to me, it was like I was seeing the world for the first time. And this ah-ha moment was the catalyst for creating Blossom & Stone today.

So today, I thought I would take some time and get into the nitty gritty of soul alignment. What does it actually mean to be in alignment with your soul? And what does that look like in your everyday life? In this blog post, we'll explore how to find and align with your soul's purpose. We'll look at what it means to have a soul's purpose, how you can discover yours, and how aligning with it can lead to a more fulfilling life. While aligning with your soul is simple in theory, it is not necessarily an easy process. It requires deep introspection, healing, and honesty with yourself and those around you. It took me years to muster up the courage to do this work, but once I did, my life changed forever, and I've never been happier and more at peace. There is no one answer for everyone, but there are certainly some things you can do to help you find your way. Ready? Let's dive in.

What is Soul Alignment?

When most people think of a soul, they think of it as something ethereal and intangible. However, your soul is actually quite practical; its primary purpose is to serve as your personal guidance system. We've all had those moments where you are in the process of making a decision or in a particular environment, and something just feels wrong. Maybe you even get a physical reaction to it, like tightness in the chest or a sinking feeling in your stomach. That is your soul gently telling you that that circumstance is not for you.

If this sounds familiar, know that this is normal. It's a part of the human experience. With friends, family, societal pressures, and of course, social media, we can easily lose sight of what feels aligned for us. It's happened to me more times than I can count. For many years I was living completely out of alignment and almost entirely for others. Most decisions I made were based on what I thought I "should" do versus what I was meant to do. It wasn't until I was about to get married and realized I couldn't be a good partner if I didn't know who I was that I started the process of getting to know my soul's purpose. The work I started doing four years ago is what has brought me to my current state of ease, joy, and connection. By aligning with my soul, I'm able to access its wisdom and guidance to live a more fulfilling life. I no longer look for outside approval, I'm surrounded by people who inspire me, and I've released all insecurities and shame about the life I want to live.

The more aligned you are with your soul, the more aligned you will be with your purpose. The two go hand in hand. Your purpose is your WHY. It is the thing that you would (and do) do regardless of if anyone else was watching, or whether it made a dollar. It is the thing that makes you happy to jump out of bed in the morning.

How Can You Discover Your Soul's Purpose?

First and foremost, know that this is not a one-time act. This is a daily practice, with some days being harder than others. The path to discovering your soul's purpose is going to be unique to you, but there are some key things I have found that always help me tap in:

  • Get quiet - Personally, I love to meditate. But if that's not for you, there are many other options, such as going on a nature walk (with no headphones!), breathwork, or visiting a sacred place. What's important is that you are alone and can be in a space to release all the extra noise that tends to clutter our minds so you can actually hear your soul speak.

  • Give yourself grace - IMO, this is the hardest step. Before we can progress, we have to accept where we are and forgive ourselves. You can do this silently, speak to yourself, or journal. Without overthinking or judgment, express what isn't feeling aligned in your life currently.

  • Create a vision & values testament. Write a statement of your values based on the person you wish to be. It might include statements like, "I value integrity," "I value cooperation," "I value freedom and autonomy," "I value consensus," and "I value trust and intimacy. You can also include future visioning like, "I am debt free," "I am in a loving relationship," and "I travel first class." Writing everything in the present tense is key, so you start to identify as this aligned version of yourself.

  • Start with a simple question such as: "Is this the right thing for me to be doing?" Then start to listen or feel for the answers. Your soul may speak to you as a small voice or as a physical feeling in your body. Be open to whatever comes up for you. If you are struggling, you can always refer back to your values and vision and ask, "Does this align with my values and vision?". Keep in mind that this may not be a straightforward process. You may have many contradictory thoughts and feelings. That's OK. Just listen to it all and keep checking back with yourself.

Being in Alignment with Yourself

Your soul's purpose is the unique mission or role you came into this lifetime to fulfill. When aligned with it, everything falls into place and feels right. You'll be driven by an inner sense of knowing and direction instead of confusion or doubt.

This type of alignment is a direct result of your commitment to honoring, respecting, and listening to your soul's voice. Your soul has a unique mission for you to fulfill here on earth. The purpose of this mission is to bring joy, love, and abundance into your life and into the lives of others in order to bring the world into a higher state of consciousness. Your soul has chosen you with this purpose in mind. Living in purpose will lead to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

If you're unsure what your soul's purpose is, aligning with it can seem daunting. But I encourage you to not give up. Understanding and living in accordance with your soul's purpose is one of the most rewarding things you can do. Your actions and choices will "feel" like the right thing to do because they are, in fact, the right thing for you to do. This is because there will be a deep sense of inner alignment with what you are doing and who you are at your soul level.

I hope this blog was helpful and shed some light on how to align with your soul. I'd love to hear from you, so either comment below or DM me on Instagram. And if you are looking to start this work, I highly recommend a Natal Chart reading. This is the first step I took, and it really helped shed light on what was holding me back and how I could be more in alignment. It would be an honor to serve you, so here is a link to book!
